We provide safe, comfortable accommodations with air conditioning in carefully selected coastal locations.
Depending on availability, rooms may be private or shared. WiFi is available, though signal strength can vary due to the remote nature of the region.
Our focus is comfort, safety, and proper recovery after long surf sessions in warm tropical conditions.
Meals & Snacks
Exceptional food is a core part of the Mexico Waves experience.
All meals are prepared by Chef Gaby, whose cuisine has become one of the most memorable highlights of our surf trips.

During peak season, daytime temperatures typically range from 82–95°F (28–35°C). Proper hydration is essential.
We recommend bringing:
- Electrolyte supplements
- A reusable water bottle
- Any personal dietary items you prefer
Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice.

Each day is tailored to the best available conditions. We prioritize quality sessions over fixed schedules.
Surf Day Itinerary (Flexible & Conditions-Based)
No two days are identical.
A typical day may include:
- Early breakfast before offshore winds
- Morning surf session at the optimal break
- Midday rest, meal, and recovery
- Optional second session if conditions allow
- Evening dinner and downtime
The ocean sets the schedule — we adapt accordingly.
Equipment & Clothes
Waves typically range from 2–8 ft during peak season.
Recommended surf gear:
- 2–3 boards (shortboard, hybrid, or step-up depending on season)
- Extra leash
- Fins & wax
- Ding repair kit (Solarez recommended)
Clothing & essentials:
- Rashguards
- Lightweight surfwear
- Reef-safe sunscreen
- Hat & sunglasses
- Sandals
- Casual evening clothes
We also suggest:
- Electrolytes
- A small personal first-aid kit
- Basic medications
- Travel insurance
Surf Spots & Conditions
Southern Oaxaca is known for consistent right-hand point breaks and powerful beach breaks. We rotate between different breaks depending on conditions.
Prime Surf Season: April – October

Rainy Season: June – November
- Short tropical showers (often afternoon or nighttime)

Rain rarely affects overall surf quality and often improves surface conditions.

Fly to Huatulco (HUX)

Most international travelers connect via Mexico City.
Alternative Option: Oaxaca City (OAX)
You may also fly into Oaxaca City and travel by ground to the coast (approximately 5–6 hours). This option works well if you plan to explore Oaxaca City before or after your surf trip.
Travel Insurance (Strongly Recommended)
Due to the physical nature of surfing, tropical climate, and access to remote coastal areas, travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Your policy should ideally cover:
- Surf-related injuries
- Emergency medical care
- Trip interruption
- Weather delays
- Medical evacuation
Mexico Waves is not responsible for medical expenses or unforeseen travel disruptions. We recommend purchasing coverage prior to arrival.
Booking & Policies
- 30% deposit required to secure dates
- Remaining balance due upon arrival
- Date changes allowed up to 20 days prior (subject to availability)
- Cancellations retain 25% of total booking amount
Due to our small-group format, availability is limited and reservations are confirmed only after deposit is received.
